The Puget Sound Socialist Party is a chartered local of the Socialist Party USA. SPUSA was formed in 1973 after the Socialist Party of America split, resulting in two main groups: The Socialist Party of the United States of America (SPUSA), and various other factions which would eventually become Democratic Socialists of America.
Unlike DSA, SPUSA is an independent multi-tendency socialist political party, and advocates complete independence from the Democratic Party. We advocate the formation of radical democracy which places people’s lives under their own control. In short, our goal is the creation of a non-racist, classless, feminist, socialist society in which the people control the means of production and distribution through democratically-controlled public agencies, cooperatives, and other collective groups.
